Happy Sticker Recipients

Thanks to everyone who showed interest in one of these GRANDMIGHTY die-cut stickers. We still have a bunch left, so contact me if you want one! Simply send me a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope and I will return it to you with a sticker inside for free.

I’ve handed a few of these out already, and was able to snap a photo of some of the happy customers. A couple people have already sent me an SASE, and those were sent out in the mail last week.

As work continues on the website, expect a return to the Forums in the near future!

MSpeed GT-R

Who would have thought yellow and green could come together like this? The color combo on this R34 is striking, and so is its stance with the front splitter sitting barely 2 inches off the ground. Time attack cars are my favorite style of cars because they’re worked to the right level, and many of them are still streetable.

During the Revspeed Time Attack Challenge at Tsukuba in 2007, MSpeed achieved a lap time of 54:481 seconds. A lot of impressive work was done to the car, including stroking the engine’s displacement from 2.6 to 2.8 liters, and throwing on a pair of Apex’i AX53B60 turbos.

You might be wondering about the green wheels its sitting on. Like a true race car, the Ray’s TE37s in Takata Green feature a one-lug system. The tires are Bridgestone RE55 in 265/25/18.

When All Else Fails, A 2JZ Won’t

It comes without question that albeit the DeLorean DMC-12 was a revolutionary car in many ways, it lacked in the performance department. With an exotic fiberglass body, gull-wing doors, and the famous brushed SS304 stainless-steel panel skins, this car was certainly different. Only around 9,000 of these were made during its 2 year production from 1981 to 1982. In realtime, it went from 0-60 in 10.5s according to Road & Track.

So what do you do when you have a very distinguishable car that’s slower than molasses? Pop in an engine from a Toyota Aristo.

Slick car, and you always gotta give admiration to the amount of custom fabrication required in project like these.

One Gear, No Idea. Chris Akrigg

When I said that you’d be hearing from me soon. I wasn’t joking.

First off Chris Akrigg is a six-time National british trials champion. He rides for mongoose. Yes, Mongoose. He may be new to the fixed gear world, but he isn’t new to cycling. It’s awesome seeing him transfer his trials skills, to a track bike. After watching this video, I feel that it’s safe to say. He’s one of the best out there. On any bike, that is.

Now let’s see if Danny MacAskill will hop on a track bike.

Introduction: Manny

I bought a polished Sugino Zen chainring off of Eric about a couple of months ago. Didn’t know much about him. Now I’m here introducing myself as a blogger on his website.

I hope everyone will enjoy all of the crap that I feel is necessary for the world to know about.

Now I guess it’s time for an intro.
My name is Manny.

That is my car. Just got a new paintjob. Maaco. Cheap.

One of those bikes is also mine. The Cinelli to be exact.

That’s all. For now.

You’ll hear more from me soon.

Timmy Theus Edit

Vinyl BMX recently welcomed aboard Timmy to their team, and shows off some smooth riding in this video. Great style and a lot of pop to his jumps.

So Fresh N’ So Clean in Blue

This fine example of a BMW E30 is a testament to the classic lines of these cars. It also shows that you don’t need always need the M3 badge and flares to look rad. The key to this car, in my opinion, is it’s overall cleanliness and simplicity. Nothing is overdone, but is done just right. Any E30 can look good if it’s well-kept, just toss the chrome bumpers for the later style ones and drop it on set of wheels. Of course, you can never go wrong with BBS’s on a Euro car.

GRANDMIGHTY Stickers are Here!

It took a bit of motivation and push to find a supplier that could make these, but atleast they’re finally here. They’re high quality, die-cut stickers and 7″ wide. Normally, I’d like to try and sell these for a minimal fee just to balance the cost of production, but instead I’m just going to give them away for free.

Grab one while you can! If you’re not local, just contact me and send a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope (SASE).

FEATURE: The 240SX Tango

This was a fun little project to get some first-hand drifting footage for the site. The actual filming process took some patience because finding “spots” during the day time wasn’t easy. On top of that, we couldn’t stay at a single area too long so, evidently, we had to keep going back in order to get enough clips. The guys driving do it for fun on the side. Peep the vid.

Bike Checking with GNARCOTIX

So a couple posts ago I mentioned I got some footage with some of the Gnarcotix crew. It ended up being a bike check by 3 of their members, thought it’d be a cool way to show an alternative, more behind-the-scenes side of the action.

This is Carl’s bike. It’s a Volume Cutter that he painted to a flat black with a fade to the original purple paint. Rocking a GRANDMIGHTY sponsored (sort of) 26″ front wheel.

Have a look at the Bike Check video, featuring members Resil, Axel, and Carl.

Rotaries in the Park

The NorCal Rotary BBQ #2 was held today, and it was a blast! Good turnout, nice cars, great weather, cool time. Can’t go wrong with breaking away from the daily rituals and being able able to grill some food and check out some legit whips.  We had a variety of cars showing up, which all added to the flavor.

There was a small drive near the end, and while the line of cars was a sight to see, a park ranger and later 2 CHPs came along as well. Fortunately they left us alone. Check out the pictures.

Red Italian Flair

As a throwback to the oldschool classics, here’s one of my favorite cars. You can really appreciate the sense of styling and overall conception of a sports car with this Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. With all the sweeping curves, the Stradale is a fine example of craftsmanship from a bygone era… rarely seen nowadays with all the composite, econo-oriented tin cans.

The Alfa Romeo was a light-weight contender at 1500lbs and a high-revving machine. It’s 2.0L V-8 produced 230BHP at 8800RPM, with a peak redline of 10,000RPM. Another interesting statistic of the car is it’s low stack roof height, at only 39″. Getting burgers from a drive-thru with this thing might require some reaching.

A Day Getting Gnar

There’s a group of local people here who decided that riding a fixed gear in a straight line is too boring, so they throw their bikes off ledges and do other unorthodox activities instead. Hence their name, Gnarcotix. Check them out, they throw down some illness. They’re currently in process of filming for a movie they’re doing, and I tagged along one day and snapped a couple of photos. I mainly focused my time trying to get some secondary video and some rather entertaining bike checks… more on that in the future.

He ain’t a Crook Son

This is most likely one of Mobb Deep’s most famous songs. Keep a positive mind, walk a straight line.

New Bike Day

After my unfortunate Head-Downtube incident, I was without a track frame for a while. I recently (yesterday) got a new track frame, it is a Rush Hour Pro, and Velospace informs me that this one is a 2008 prototype non-production frame. It rides and feels like the sturdiest aluminum bike I’ve been on, and I’m very happy with it!

Sugino 75, Phil Wood, typical stuff on a SF rider!

Rust Bucket Redefined

I’m not entirely sure how to grasp the total image of this car, but it is unique to say the least. The body of the BMW looks like it was dumped into a vat of battery acid. I’m guessing the smashed windshield and whatever that random vise grip is holding on adds to the style… At first glance, I was going to just shrug it off as another car bound for the junkyard, but the fact that it has a set balling 18″ BBS RS’s changed my mind. That makeshift, lowriding trailer being pulled has a pair of 17″ BBS RS’s, you can never have too many of those wheels.

Around and Around

Here is a short taste of another upcoming video, keeping it sideways is the name of the game. Stay tuned!

Let’s Get Mystical

Saw this on the come up, Mutiny Bikes puts out some good video production. Their previous endeavor, Stoked on Being Pumped was some good stuff as well. This new video is coming out on September, 2009, and it looks even better.
