High Fidelity
Give this track from the Power in Numbers album by Jurassic 5 a listen. Another ode to the days of real MC’s and real hip hop.
Want it? Here’s a 320 KBP/S version of the song: Download. Make sure to buy the album if you like it.
Polished Enkeis
The Enkei RPF1s might not have any dish or change in lip (even if you go lower offset), but you can still look good with these wheels. Fitment doesn’t always need to have concavity or a fat lip. Take this S2000 for example.
Datsun Throwbacks
I came across these sick 60s/70s Datsuns with a lot of bosozoku influence. As you can see, it’s huge-fenders galore.
This skyline looks to have been painted Midnight Purple from the R34’s.
Crazy 240z with a ZG front:
Super low and wide is the name of the game. Take notes.
Dirtjumpers Russian Style
Great riding and camera quality, with that EurAsian flair.
Illtech’s GTR
Driving Sports TV takes a look at Illtech’s GTR project and its build process.
IsoTruss Carbon Fiber
Carbon Fiber has been around for a while now, and as all things, its technology is evolving. One of the latest advances and forms of carbon fiber is weaving them in strands of grid patterns called “IsoTruss.” It may look like a strange web, but offers structural rigidity that can withstand a range of stresses, including: axial, tension, compression, and flexure loads.
The first implementation of IsoTruss is the Ascend road bike and the Arantix mountain bike. Definitely an interesting look, and people claim it to be stiffer frames. An array of platforms is available for this, possibly even a race car’s tube chassis as well. All that matters is how far people want to push to obtain the ultimate frame setups. More information can be found at Delta7.
What Moves You?
Gaze your eyes on these wondrous engine bays, some of them are so polished you’d need polarized sunglasses.
A Phở’ed Up Challenge
Phở is becoming quite the sensation nowadays, especially around the Bay Area and in parts of Southern California (Skip MidCal, its almost nonexistent there). The noodle soup originated as a traditional Vietnamese dish, with rice noodles and beef broth. Add in a bunch of random thinly cut meat like steak and brisket, probably a lot of artificial flavoring, and you have yourself some Phở, man.
Now it’s good and all, but this isn’t entirely the focal point of my post. You’ve probably heard about those steak challenges in Texas, well, a restaurant in San Francisco called Pho Garden has a similar challenge. Instead of a giant cut of cow meat, replace it with 2 pounds of noodles and 2 pounds of various meat. Basically 3 Large “normal” bowls into one.
Bowl doesn’t look very big, does it? Let’s put some more relative objects into perspective…
This, my friends, is not the expression of victory or accomplishment. This is what you look like promptly before going into a MSG-overdose induced seizure. But you know that in the end, it was all well worth it.
From Teardrop to Teardrop
Arguably the most timeless characteristic on an automobile is the relatively unchanging style of the Porsche 911. The picture below shows off how little the roof line and overall body curves remained the same over the decades. You could almost extrapolate what the next generation 911 will look like. I wasn’t a huge fan of the 996 series, which not only signified the end of air-cooled engines but introduced those blobby-eyed headlights. One of the striking points of the 997s is the return to the original styled elliptical headlights.
My favorite series of 911’s has to be the 993. Classy lines all around and it isn’t overly-cluttered, perfect.
Back to the Grind
The past couple of weeks, this site was admittedly lacking updates. Think of it as a necessary hiatus, because during that time, a lot was accomplished behind the scenes. The previous web host this site was on had expired, so I moved everything over to a new place and hopefully speeds will be slightly quicker now. Further more, if you’ve noticed, the entire main page has been redone. The old layout started to look too simple, and I wanted something more professional in aesthetics. There are still some small work that needs to be ironed out but that will all be taken care of.
Be sure to check out the Forums and we should be back in action.
