Jiggy Getting Jiggy With it
Well, I definitely wasn’t expecting that to happen. That’s M Power for you… buckle up next time BRO, safety first!
Shopping Shuffle
Okay, this post isn’t going to have much relevancy to anything… I just had to post it because it was funny. If I saw this techno dude get down in real life, I wouldn’t know if I should laugh or be amazed.
Datsun Throwbacks
I came across these sick 60s/70s Datsuns with a lot of bosozoku influence. As you can see, it’s huge-fenders galore.
This skyline looks to have been painted Midnight Purple from the R34’s.
Crazy 240z with a ZG front:
Super low and wide is the name of the game. Take notes.
IsoTruss Carbon Fiber
Carbon Fiber has been around for a while now, and as all things, its technology is evolving. One of the latest advances and forms of carbon fiber is weaving them in strands of grid patterns called “IsoTruss.” It may look like a strange web, but offers structural rigidity that can withstand a range of stresses, including: axial, tension, compression, and flexure loads.
The first implementation of IsoTruss is the Ascend road bike and the Arantix mountain bike. Definitely an interesting look, and people claim it to be stiffer frames. An array of platforms is available for this, possibly even a race car’s tube chassis as well. All that matters is how far people want to push to obtain the ultimate frame setups. More information can be found at Delta7.
Brewed Innovation
Can’t call this ghetto because those look like some nice T-bolt clamps holding the bottle… and the engine bay shows signs of a freshly done build.
In the Seats of Luxury
By Luxury, I’m not talking about comfortable, fluffy cushions and thick cow-hide… I’m talking about luxury in terms of hard, super lightweight carbon fiber.
A glance at these Technocraft T-1 seats and you will know they mean business, both in terms of lucrativeness and awesomeness.
Made out of high quality pre-preg dry carbon, one seat comes in at 6lbs. The price tag is not such a small number, however, coming in at $2699 each.
The Technocrafts are still a flea-market bargain compared to the ultimate Recaro seats, the Recaro SP-X CL100’s. This was a Euro and Japanese conjunction with Recaro and a shop called ASM from Japan. They’re also around $20,000 for the pair. That’s over triple the price for a pair of the T-1’s.
Why are these so much more expensive than the T-1’s? The Recaros are reclinable whereas the T-1’s are fixed, and also consist of more complex structural shapes with sharp edges. Aside from more structural framework design, the CL100’s also have more detailed upholstery with an alcantara and leather mix. Still, the leather better be from a show-winning goat, and sown together by a Goddess for that price tag.
Regardless, both these seats are very baller, and a great display of craftsmanship.
NorCal RX-7 BBQ Redux
The Rotary folks are holding a BBQ at Lake Elizabeth in Fremont, CA soon… and of course GRANDMIGHTY has something to do with it.
Beholdeth Thine Beautifulness
It’s currently 3AM, so I have an excuse for the incomprehensible title. Now feast your eyeballs on this wonderful scenary. I’d love to build a cabin right there and live in harmony, while listening to Bone Thugs. Now that’s called tranquility.
The Trend of Photography
Before I even start this post, I want to say a little disclaimer: by no means am I a very experienced photographer… but with over a few years surveying this growing “hobby,” I’ve noticed a few things here or there. Regardless, the following is simply a collection of my opinions. In recent times, the growth of the Digital SLR market accelerated at an insane pace. What was once a subject endeavored by select enthusiasts, is now a trend for the masses. It seems like everywhere you look, you see someone with a DSLR.
Granted this is a very positive thing, there are also many picker-uppers of photography that take themselves too seriously, more so than required. I feel like the biggest mistake is people overdoing their photos and forgetting the foundation setting concepts.
I took a quick mock photo to help portray somethings I see frequently…
- Insanely rad (and overdone) border
- Contrast cranked up… because overwhelming amounts of black and white usually hides inadequacies.
- Neck breaking Angle. Why take a photo that’s level and straight when you can get MAD ANGLEZ?
- Throw in some HDR… everyone is doing it!
- Drop your F-stop as low as your lens goes to get that wicked BOKEH.
- Now the best part, a deliberately designed watermark of your name to imitate the professionals. Gotta get your name out, right… with all that money you make from your photography.
I’m willing to wager that the majority of people today with DSLRs are weekend shooters and hobbiests. Myself included. A rare few will eventually elevate themselves to a professional level, and actually make an income out of it.
The best approach, I think, is to keep shooting. But instead, focus more of your time behind the lens and take a step back from the computer and all that post-processing. Think about the Rule of Thirds rather than a creative place to put your “professional” watermark.
Rocking F(ilipino)DM
After doing a little browsing around, this nicely done E46 M3 caught my attention. My first reaction was towards the wheels, I didn’t want to believe they were Rotas. After further investigation, they indeed are a set of Rota Grids, in specs 18×8.5e +30 and 18×10 +20. The owner of this car (or some might call perpetrator) is from Driftworks.

As much as I’d like to hate on the Rotas, I can’t deny the fact that this car is very well executed. The fitment is great and the color scheme is classy. The design of these wheels suit the car nicely, aswell. Not bad…
