Epic Saturday Part I: Biked Part of the LA River

December 8th, 2009 · No Comments · Bike

so Alvaro hit me up friday night asking if i wanted to bike with him along the LA river. i said, “yea” because i’ve been rejecting all the invites everytime he’s asked me if i wanted to bike… not my fault that i’m sometimes busy. =P anyway, i took Lainard with me on this trip. the plan was to start in downtown Long Beach then bike up the LA river.

^ so i decided that we took the Metro Blue Line down to downtown Long Beach. getting off of Transit Way then going to Golden Shore ST where Alvaro would be waiting for us

Photo359

^ got to the Wardlow/Pacific Station and unloaded our bikes

Photo360

^ going one way is $1.25/ticket

Photo362

^ alas, we get on. i’d be sleeping like this lady too this early in the morning…

^ my seat looks like a Camel… lol (the sign in the corner of the pic: “See Something. Say Something.” silly Metro signs. hahaha)

Photo365

^ the inside joke about my bike… =P

Photo366

^ finally got off in downtown Long Beach. i’m definitely coming back down here. =]

Photo367

^ parked the bikes once we got to Golden Shore… realized that we had a lil more to bike to get to where Alvaro was.

Photo368

^ it was pretty cloudy that morning.

finally met up with Alvaro and his friend Francisco.

^ finally started biking. we got left behind. apparently, our pace was not even as fast as their “warm-up” pace. FAIL.

Photo373

^ decided to take a break after 10 miles. after that, we realized that we didn’t really dig the bike on the LA River. scenery was too bland and got boring too fast. so…

Photo374

^ …we decided to head back to the Wardlow station. LOL texted Alvaro sayin’ we pretty much threw the towel in the ring. hahah we suck.

Photo375

^ we got back to the Wardlow Station but decided to grab some snacks real quick at the donut store next door. i guess Lainard blinked in this pic. lol

Photo376

^ gotta rock the chocolate milk with donut holes.

^ to conclude the bike ride, there was a bunch of people waiting to go on a bike ride. little did we know, they were trying to have a bike meet around Long Beach, promoting the city to be more “bike-friendly”. here’s a pamphlet they had to support their ideas and what they were trying to do and what not. it’s definitely a great way to save the earth and get exercise (like that random chick said to us). lol

anywho, that was our bike ride. only rode for an hour cuz we couldn’t hang with the other triathletes. hopefully next time, we’ll bike around downtown and explore the heart of Long Beach. =P at least my tires are pumped up to 100 PSI. hahaha yes!

stay up and keep biking!
