Work Equip Plans…

December 10th, 2009 · 1 Comment · the FC

with the current wheel specs: front: 16×7; rear: 16×8

measured the lip with a ruler… (without taking account of the width of the face of the wheel)

front current lip: 1″, therefore inner barrel : ~6″

rear current lip: 1.5″ therefore inner barrel: ~6.5″

estimated some more other measurements too w/ the ruler…

front wheel lip width to flush front fender: 2.5″

rear wheel lip width to flush rear fender:  3″

(still half an inch difference between front and back)

so with that being said, i’ve drawn to my conclusion what i wanna do with these wheels.

add ~ 1.5″ of lip MORE on each wheel.

increasing the front lip width to:  2.5″

increasing the rear lip width to: 3.5″

overall wheel width wheel front: 8.5″

overall wheel width rear: 9.5″

mind you, this is to get the wheel FLUSH to the fender. basically i can join Hella Flush if i wanted to. i can give myself some slack to play with if i decrease the width. so with these calculations, either get a lip that’s 2″ or 2.5″ or 3″ and “3.5″. that’ll determine if i’m gonna pull and roll more or not.

16×8 or 16×8.5″

16×9 or 16×9.5″

and since it’s gonna be the lip that i’m gonna mod, it’s gonna bring the offset lower. assuming it’s “+45″, adding the inch each will lower the offset to “+20″ since 1″ is ~25mm. sounds like a plan to me. =] hope to follow through with this plan because it’ll be an aggressive set of 16″ Work Equips. =P just gotta find the hookup who can help me make this happen…

here’s a rough idea (courtesy of myfc3s from the rx7club forum) of how work equip wheels look when taken apart (face is separated from inner barrel and lip)
