Do what makes you happy!

January 22nd, 2012 · JS - Just Sayin

Triggered by a tweet from my friend Alyssa. About owning decisions and following one own steps to happiness. I feel, somewhere in life we lost a bit of ourselves. When we’re kids, adults dare us to dream big, believe in endless possibilities, and push our goals. Then you grow up, and sometime down that line, you let other people help you believe “No, I can’t do this. That’s a pipe dream.” Or you just gave up on it because you had to pay bills. For example, accountants. This is not an attack on accountants, just an example please. I understand if you’re parents are accountants, you may have dreamt to become just like mommy and daddy. However, if that is not the case, honestly, who in their childhood said, “I want to be an accountant” when they were growing up. I see it all too often, people who go through the appropriate education to get into a career that they “love” yet wake up every morning thinking “Damn, gotta go to work.” Who told you, when it was too late to be chasing a dream. If you don’t like what you’re doing, STOP DOING IT! Go find something else that will make you happy.

My credentials? Let’s see, I’ve gone through a few highly expensive universities. The first one was the right one, but I was talked into a change of mind by friends, family, etc.  I’ve had a few jobs and before i was 21 cleared a decent 6 figure salary. I hated that job, it made me feel shitty I hated my life and hated the negative potential of what I was doing, but I was good at it. In the meantime, I completely intend to go back to school and finish what I started in due time. I have other passions which I am thoroughly pursuing in order to certify that I can be happy doing them for the long haul. I have taken big risk and lost and have taken big risk and won. You can’t win big betting the minimum. Life is a risk and in order to get what you want you have to be willing to risk it all.  What happens if you lose? Well, ask Donald Trump, he’s filed for bankruptcy more than anybody. Currently, I’m nowhere near where I was 7 years ago as far as the standard idea of “success” goes, but I’m happier and enjoy life now more pursuing things that most people think are either crazy, ridiculous, or impossible.

If you think starting over is a waste of time, you’re crazy. I think spending another second doing something that doesn’t make you happy is the greatest waste of time ever.

“If you love life, don’t waste time, for time is what life is made up of.”
-Bruce Lee

“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated, day in and day out.”
-Robert Collier

Sad truth of the matter, your biggest doubters will likely be people close to you. When people haven’t tried hard enough to reach their own dreams, they will try to stop you from reaching yours too. You can’t listen to these people. Believe in yourself and believe in what you want. Life is easy, decide what you want and go get it. Patience will help, it may take a while, but only you can deny yourself from what you really want.

But hey, maybe I was just absent from class when they taught “It’s too late to be happy”

Laugh, smile and be well,
-Pogi

The New Mercedes SL

January 10th, 2012 · JS - Just Sayin, music & entertainment

Mercedes has their marketing team on point. This introduction is more than a commercial its a short story and even though it’s primary goal is to show you the features and benefits of the new SL model Mercedes, within 5 minutes you are intrigued by the silent story. Bravo Mercedes Benz, BRAVO! When I was still going to school a big part of me wanted to focus on exactly something like this, creative advertisement that is so much more than the industry standard. Nice to see it come out of a brand that I like.

The new Mercedes SL – I want it!

Find what makes you happy

January 8th, 2012 · JS - Just Sayin, music & entertainment

A friend posted this video, and I thought it was really neat. Because (A) I can understand what he’s saying and (B) I love coca cola.

A little off tangent from the video yet still relative, I get tired of people that are sick of their lives. “If you don’t like something, change it. If you can change it, change your perspective.” Just quit bitching.

It’s a busy world, I figured this out a long time ago and don’t understand why it’s hard for people to do the same. “Find what makes you happy.” Sure, at the moment you may be more “successful”, whatever that may mean to you. I don’t waste much of my life doing things I hate or dread. I don’t wake up every morning  thinking “damn, why me” I may be a little late as far as career and net value goes. However, I’m rich in friends, family, people I trust, and life experiences. I’ve already done more than most will ever do, I’ve risked more, have been rewarded greater, have lost treasures and have experienced life from both spectrums of the rainbow. There’s a saying “You can’t feel strength, if you’ve never felt weak” And for the most part, I believe that to be true. Silver spoon kids don’t appreciate the value of a dollar; skinny people don’t appreciate their metabolisms till they hit that age and all of a sudden they can’t see their own feet; and people with floaties never swim as fast. You only live once, why not find what makes you happy and enjoy it as much as you can.

New Bike Day – BMC

December 29th, 2011 · eye candy, Transportation

so for the past few months, i’ve been think about building a roadie. more specifically, a vintage roadie. however, during a conversation a couple nights ago, my buddy Tim (Days That End) gave me an offer I couldn’t refuse. Now here I am riding a modern roadie and with a big smile on my face.  Already had a couple setbacks, the cassette was worn and slipping from a worn out chain. Replaced chain, ordering cassette, and have to get a new hanger too because the one on there is chipped for some unknown reason. Still happy and overall an excellent deal. Some may question, why such a high end bike for a first, the only way I can answer that is “I like nice things”. If you’ve followed any of my social media pages, this blog, past blogs, myspace, fb. etc. you should know what my track bike is like.

As always, New Bike Day is always a happy one. and with that introduction. Here she is.
